sweet music of everyday

just bein’ cute

We had to make a trip to the doctor to rule out any ear infections because Mayah ran a low fever for a few days. I started being concerned of an ear infection, so we made the call to the doctor.. no ear infection, it was all supposedly teething, yet still to this day we haven’t seen a tooth! They just like to haunt us and bring fevers, yet never show the pearly whites!

She is still pretty smiley despite teething and fevers!

never a dull moment

Yeah, you probably thought I couldn’t catch another silly face on camera, but YOU WERE WRONG! This girl has never ending silly faces!

I pulled the camera out at the doctor’s office last week, and this is the one shot I got… and YES she did this at the nurse the whole time she measured and weighed this sweet little girl! Ha ha! You never know what you’ll get with her!

We went in for our 6 month well check last week. We are a little off, but it was supposed to be her 6 month appointment. She weighs 17 pounds and is consistently staying in the 60th percentile for her weight and height. Her head however likes to stay in the 90th percentile! Must mean she’ll be smart, right? :)

Here are a few other pictures of this little angel!

quite a day….doctors and travel…

Mayah had her 4 month check up this morning. It was quite the experience, since only one doctor got into the office this morning due to all of the flooding. Luckily, our doctor was the one who made it in, so we were happy for that! Our real 4 month appointment was on December 21 and it was cancelled due to all of the snow and ice in the parking lot and on the roads.

Here are some pictures as we waited for the doctor!

Anyways, she is very healthy. The doctor said that she holds herself like a 6 month old, and she is very impressed with her muscle strength and stability. She weighs just under 15 pounds (62%) and is 26.75 inches long (95%). She clearly had a growth spurt in her length recently, as looking at her on the chart, it went way up! I am very happy and blessed to have a baby who is so healthy and is a great eater and sleeper. It was fun to tell the pediatrician that she sleeps 11 hours per night and takes great naps during the day. :) I am glad that our hard work has paid off with her sleeping, since it was very difficult in the beginning when she had colic and would prefer to scream all the time.

So, after our appointment, we went home to pack and pack to go on our two week adventure to Virginia.

Mayah was, of course, a huge help in getting ready! :)

I bought a few things to help us on our trip…

The first thing I will talk about is a last minute decision. I saw it on craigslist and thought, oh, this would be easy to take, and it will take less room. So, I got it and I am glad I did. It is the BabyTrend Snap-N-Go Stroller. The infant car seat just clicks right into it, but when it is not being used, it folds up nice and has a little carrying handle. This is great for conserving space in the trunk, as well as the amount of things to lug through the airport! Mayah doesn’t love her car seat, so I don’t reckon that she’ll love riding in this, but it will work for a trip. I will also plan to keep it to use with future babies, in hopes that at least one of my children will not fight the carseat! :) I got it on Craigslist for $25 and regularly it runs from $50-$60. Here are some pictures of it (pardon the mess in the background)!

I also bought another fascinating item. Mostly because we are going on this trip for two weeks, didn’t want to lug the pack-n-play through the airports, or pay for it to be checked. Mayah doesn’t sleep in bed with me, because neither of us sleep well when that happens, and I didn’t want her to be just on the big open floor at the hotel. She just recently started rolling from back to tummy, which means she can roll around all she wants, so I can’t have her be on a 2nd bed in our room either. With all this in mind, I was happy to talk to a friend of mine on the BabyCenter community who just recently had done the whole airport/travel thing with her little girl. She had purchased this little bed that was small enough that she had it in her carry-on in the airport. She was grateful she had it because she ended up being stranded, and this gave her little baby a place to sleep away from the commotion of the airport. So, you are probably wondering what it is…aren’t you? :)
It is called a Peapod Travel Bed. Here is Mayah, sleeping in it…already! :) This is what she looks like as I type this blog:

It is like a little tent, baby sized. It has a little bad, a thin blow-up mattress to go under it, a little pump to make the mattress easier to work with, and a carry bag with handles. When we get home, this is going to live in our trunk, so we have it with us whenever we need it. It is great because it has sides and zips up fully, so if we were outside it could keep bugs out. Here is a link to Amazon, there are more pictures there if you are curious, although I will probably post more of her in it on our trip! :)

So, here we sit, in SeaTac. We will be flying out in the morning, and we will be in Virginia tomorrow night! It should be fun. I am glad that we decided to come up tonight, in order to avoid any more possible road closures or problems getting from Grays Harbor. I’ll keep you posted on our trip!
